I feel pressure to be politically correct when I go out in public during the holidays. I don’t want to offend others by saying “Merry Christmas” accidentally instead of “Happy Holidays.” Do you have the same concern?
Not to get political, but yes this is bothersome for me. It sounds like we may have different reasons for being concerned with these phrases. The intent of saying “Happy Holidays”, “Happy Hanukkah”, or “Merry Christmas” is to spread joy and send a blessing. I believe the message is lost by having to tip toe around offending others. As a dog who celebrates Hanukkah I am not offended when someone says “Merry Christmas.” I know the intent is positive and they are not trying to offend me. However, I realized over the years that you can’t please everyone.
